The Red Lion
Gavin Evans, who worked at the pub for many years, took over as landlord in August 2018; for reservations, please call 01440 783237
During the COVID-19 crisis of spring/summer 2020, Gavin and his team took advantage of the lockdown to refurbish the pub
The Camra Suffolk Real Ale Guide entry describes it well:
‘Good beer, food and conversation are the mainstay of this traditional village local. With a huge back garden containing plenty to keep children occupied it is ideal for families in the summer months.
Have a look at the amazing collection of copper and brass while trying the Adnams beers along with the occasional guest. Food is served either in the bar or restaurant. Look out for the whale's jawbone that you pass through as you enter the front door. The building dates from the 17th or 18th century.'
The Village Link
The Village Link (covering Great Thurlow, Little Thurlow and Great Wratting) is distributed to every household in the village each month; the current and past issues can also be read online on https://www.thethurlows.org.uk/villagers/village-link/
It is funded through a combination of donations from the Parish Councils and advertising
